Asakusa temple

This is the main street that leads into the temple. Now, the streets line fairly tacky gift shops so the tourists can buy their souvenirs.

Tokyo subway

This is at the Ueno station. The orange line (my favorite color) is called Ginza line since it was the first subway that was built in the 1800's and connected Asakusa and Ginza. Asakusa is where I grew up and where my mom grew up.

Picture of Ginza's main part.

At Ginza

Ginza's main street becomes open to pedestrians during weekends and many street performers come to life on the corners. Here's a street performer from England.

Ginza

I came to Ginza to do some window shopping today.

Tonkatsu

The best :)

My hotel room

Here's a small, but well apportioned and comfortable hotel room of where I'm staying in Asakusa. I typically stay with my aunt, but since I wasn't able to give her enough time for her to prepare for my visit, I've decided to get a hotel room. This hotel room is so inexpensive, yet walking distance to Asakusa temple, the subway lines, and just very very comfortable. I've stayed before and love it!

School Children in the Subway

I had to take this picture since there were lots of school children in uniforms in the subway. The cute white hats and shirts with navy blue shorts. I used to wear similar uniforms when I was in kindergarten. The teacher was smiling and talking to the kids as of her own. It was such a heartwarming scenery I had to take it...

Mt. Fuji

View from my hotel in Tokyo... I'm not sure if you can see it well, but Mt. Fuji peeked out between the clouds far in the back. The weather turned out to be gorgeous in the afternoon, but a bit overcast for the morning. You can see the tall buildings of Shinjuku area towards the back of the picture.

Cable car

As you all know, my favorite color is orange so you'd know why I love this particular cable car?

Morning Bay Bridge

I'm leaving for Tokyo on a business trip this morning. Although a bit of a rush, I've decided to swim at the cove before the trip since the weather is so gorgeous!

More IGLA Pictures part II

Here are my Tsunami team mates from left to right, Jason, Christophe, Stuart and me. Stuart just swam the 200m this day, and we look so happy together as a team. Thank you Long again, for your pictures!

More IGLA Pictures

Thanks Long for his photographic talents. Even a bad subject can come out better than average ;-) Here's me and Loc waiting for our event at the Paris IGLA. Mori has his eyes closed... ;-( But note the wonderful open roof swimming pool used for IGLA!

Partner celebration

My best friend Jason took me to Top of the Mark restaurant on Sunday to celebrate my promotion to partner at Ernst & Young. The meal was a buffet style, and in an exquisite cuisine from Chinese to French. It was so incredible after a mile swim inside the cove! Thank you Jason for such a memorable lunch!

The 100 mile sheet

As you can see. My name... is there...

100 mile swim

As you can see, the pictured wall has a paper table that has the members note how many miles they have swum since the official start of summer, with the goal of reaching 100 miles during the season.

I'm squinty here from the sun, but from our living room.

The Dolphin Club

As you know, I'm a member of the Dolphin Club at the cove. It was such a beautiful day that I had to go for a swim. I swam about a half mile today.

Stu

Thanks for driving ts to the lake swim!

Lake

Finished! Felt sooo good to swim this morning!

Four of us

This is the four Tsunamis that just finished both the .75 mile and the 1.75 miles and we were so proud for finishing the swim! It was a gorgeous lake as it was last year, and the temperature was perfect for a distance swim! No shoulder pains, so it was gr8!

Here's Philip and me

Cold air, but warm hearts.

Getting ready

Here's Stu and Philip getting ready for this morning's swim... A bit of a chill in the air, but really exciting!

On our way

We're on our way to Lake Del Valle this morning (a bit too early to wake up at 5:30 in the morning but) to swim either/or both the 0.75 miles and the 1.50 miles, I'm a bit apprehensive about the swims because of my shoulders, but I have ice ready :) In any case, I'll report in a few hours...

In my office

Here's me working at my desk ...

IGLA Paris

Another picture from IGLA. This is not of me swimming, but rather, taking a picture of a fellow swimmer who was doing a 50m breaststroke.

IGLA in Paris

This is a picture of three Tsunamis doing the 200m freestyle. In lane 4 is Philip, putting on his goggles, in lane 5 is Mori, looking at Trent, who is in Lane 6. I wasn't too nervous about this swim, except that 200m freestyle is my worst event. It's so hard to swim without losing steam towards the end, because I end up swimming it like a sprint! But our coach gave us a great strategy, to swim 50m relaxed, 75m build, 50m fast and 25m blast! It went really well! Picture credit goes to Katie on our Synchro team

Piano lesson

I'm so very excited! I've had my first piano lesson in about 11 years! I played the Mozart K311 D major sonata 1st movement rather poorly, but he gave me lots of things to work on and I'm really excited! I might work on some Shubert sonatas as well!

A gift from Stuart

From Stuart... It was so nice of you, Stuart! For others, you can see the fancy bags and a memo that defines what a partner means. Stuart gave me business card case, a wonderful gift. Thank you Stu!

Relaxing

After a nice swimming day at the lake...

The lake

with me this time...

Another

Lake view.

The lake view

This is the part of the lake we swam in. Isn't it beautiful?

My girl

Is so tired from being under the sun all day.

Me and Jason

In the car into the city...

Back

to the cold foggy city.

So hot!

Himi and I had to hike about a mile in hot 85 degree weather and she is so very hot here...

Me and Diahannah

After the 2 mile race

Open water

There was an open water event at Lake Barryessa about 1 1/2 hour away from the city. It has the most beautiful contrast of water, sky and hill colorings, and I swam both the 1 mile and the 2 mile events. Because of my shoulder problems, it was not a fast swim, but I had a wonderful time with my teammates.

Another one

Another happy girl :)

Picked up my girl

I finally picked my girl up from Rich's house. She's as cute as usual! Look at that smile.
